IIITM-G over the Years: Industrial Links

The institute promotes extensively links with the professional world and working towards creating relationships with various organizations in varied sectors of economy, government and agents of social and economic change. These linkages encompass curriculum design and development, curriculum delivery by industry experts, mentoring of students by CEOs and senior professionals, summer internship projects, final placement and participation by industry executives in MDPs offered by us. Professionals and experts from industry are members on various policy and decision making bodies of the institute. The students and the faculty, in turn, contribute by taking up industrial and business problems and projects and offer solutions. Joint research projects are also undertaken. It is not surprising, therefore, that the students of the institute are offered nearly 100 % placements through campus selections.

Summer Internship, which is of twelve-week duration, after completion of first year of MBA/ MTech Programme or after fourth year of five year integrated programme, is intended to give our students a deep insight into the practical nuances and work ethos of the corporate world. During this period the students undertake projects under the guidance of company executives. Institute faculty closely interact with the students and industry mentors. It provides an opportunity to explore various avenues of collaboration to build a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship between the institute and industry.

The second year students of the 5-year integrated programme undergo a 10-weeks internship with NGOs to provide them the opportunity to understand the needs of people and of the ground realities of our country. This experience instills appropriate attitudes and motivation in them to participate in the country’s development .
